Der Cycling Club Düsseldorf e.V trauert um Richard Cross. Der gebürtige Engländer mit belgischem Pass ist am 26.09.25 nach langer schwerer Krankheit verstorben. Er war ein hervorragender Ausdauerathlet, Marathonläufer und sicher einer der besten Cyclocross Hobbyfahrer seiner Altersklasse Ü50 in NRW. Sein britischer Humor war ansteckend, seine kritisch, nüchterne und gelassene Sicht auf die Welt war beruhigend. Im Sport war er zäh und ein Kämpfer, den Tumor konnte er letztlich nicht bekämpfen. Richard hinterläßt seine Frau und seine beiden Kinder. Wir werden ihn im Club, bei Rennen und auf den Trails vermissen.

Born in England and holding Belgian citizenship, Richard passed away on September 26, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with illness. He was more than an athlete — he was a force of endurance, a passionate marathon runner, and one of the finest cyclocross hobby riders in the 50+ age group across North Rhine-Westphalia.
Richard’s dry British humor lit up every conversation, and his calm, clear-eyed view of the world offered comfort and perspective to those around him. In sport, he was tenacious — a fighter through and through. Though he could not overcome the tumor, he faced it with the same quiet strength that defined his character.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and two children, and a community that will remember him not only for his athleticism, but for his wit, wisdom, and unwavering spirit.
Richard, you will be missed — on the trails, in the club, and in our hearts.
